Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 18, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones the DocProtect website (docprotect.net) uses, and how you can manage them. We are committed to full transparency about the technologies employed on our website.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your browser when you visit them. They serve various purposes, such as remembering your preferences, ensuring security and analysing how the site is used. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function, while others are optional and require your prior consent.
In addition to traditional cookies, modern web applications may use other client-side storage mechanisms (such as LocalStorage, Service Workers and in-memory storage). This policy covers all such technologies used by DocProtect.
2. Cookies we use
DocProtect uses a minimal number of cookies. Importantly, the document editing tool itself does not use any cookies whatsoever — all document processing is performed entirely in your browser's memory without any server communication or persistent tracking.
The cookies that may be set on the website fall into two categories: strictly necessary cookies and optional analytics cookies.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the basic operation and security of the website. They do not require your consent and cannot be disabled without impairing site functionality.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot management and DDoS protection | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that the browser passed a security challenge | 30 minutes |
cookieConsent | DocProtect | Stores your cookie consent preference (accepted/rejected categories) | 12 months |
Cloudflare operates as a content delivery network (CDN) and security layer, protecting the website against DDoS attacks, malicious bots and other threats. These cookies are strictly necessary and their use is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in maintaining a secure and available service.
4. Analytics cookies (optional)
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the website so we can improve the user experience. They are only activated if you provide your express consent through the cookie consent banner.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Generates a unique identifier to distinguish users and calculate visitor metrics | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Maintains session state and tracks navigation flow across pages | 2 years |
Analytics data is used exclusively to understand usage patterns and improve the service. It is never used for advertising, behavioural profiling or sold to third parties. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation enabled.
If you do not accept analytics cookies, the website will function perfectly normally — you will not lose any functionality.
5. Other local storage technologies
In addition to cookies, DocProtect may use the following client-side storage technologies. None of these store personal data or document content on any server:
- LocalStorage: Used to persist your editor preferences (such as tool settings and language selection) locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared through your browser settings.
- Service Worker cache: The web application uses a Service Worker to cache static assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts, icons) so the editor can function fully offline. The cache does not store any document images or user data.
- RAM / in-memory storage: During document editing, your images and undo history are held exclusively in your browser's working memory (RAM). This data is never written to disk, never transmitted to any server, and is automatically cleared when you close the tab or browser.
6. How to manage cookies
You have several options for managing your cookie preferences:
- Cookie consent banner: When you first visit the site, a banner allows you to accept or reject optional (analytics) cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer.
- Browser settings: You can configure your browser to block, delete or prompt for cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may impair website functionality.
7. Changes to this policy
Color Vivo Internet S.L. reserves the right to amend this Cookie Policy to adapt it to legislative changes, regulatory guidance, technical developments or changes to the Service. Any amendment will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
